Roughly 300 volunteers will be helping in some way or another in Casper July 10-13, 2013 during the Wyoming Senior Olympics. The event is a major undertaking for the Casper community primarily due to the number of sports offered?24 in all. Participants aged 50 and over will be competing in archery, badminton, basketball, billiards, bowling, cycling, darts, disc golf, golf, horseshoes, mountain biking, Pickleball, racquetball, 5K and 10K road races, skeet shooting, softball, swimming, table tennis, tennis, track and field, trap shooting, triathlon, volleyball and weightlifting.
An army of volunteers are currently being assembled to help keep events organized, safe and fun. There are a variety of tasks for volunteers; helping to check-in athletes, handing out water and fruit, keeping score or timing, reporting results, setting up equipment, serving at the BBQ, and aiding in keeping runners and cyclists on their assigned routes. The United Way of Natrona County is mobilizing their annual Days of Action to provide necessary volunteer support for the Wyoming Senior Olympics. Through the Days of Action, the United Way provides volunteer resources to address community needs. United Way agencies are encouraged to participate in the Days of Action by calling the United Way office (307) 237-9367.
As a ?thank you? to all Wyoming Senior Olympics Sports Commissioners and volunteers, there is a hotdog cookout on the patio of the Casper Family Aquatic Center Monday, June 17, 2013 beginning at 6:30 p.m. followed by free swimming in the Aquatic Center from 7:00-9:00 p.m. This event is designated for WSO volunteers and their families and friends. Volunteer forms and volunteer registration will be available on-site.
